Our previous lesson was about describing people. Today’s lesson is about the place where we live.
I live in Yerevan. It is the capital city of the Republic of Armenia. Although Yerevan is an ancient city it looks like a newly built one. They say that Yerevan is 2800 years old but you can hardly find a house which is more than 100 years old. Anyway, I love Yerevan. The population of Yerevan is more than one million. The center of the city is Republican Square. It is considered to be one of the most beautiful squares in the world. It has a pool with tens of dancing fountains with light effects. One can also admire the Opera House which is not far from Republican Square. In front of the Opera House, there is a square which has two names: Theatrical Square and Freedom Square. There are a lot of public gardens in Yerevan. Tourists say that, first of all, they are impressed by the great number of fountains of drinkable water everywhere in the city. They are also impressed by the friendly atmosphere in our city.
Artem Kirakosyan and Ashot Hovhannisyan, can you describe the place where you are living now? I will publish your descriptions on the English page of our school website.
